Happy 21st, Ali!

15 reasons why Ali deserves a great birthday:
1. Ann Marie & I could not have picked a better person to adopt:
2. Ali loves South Depot even more than I do.. and that's a lot.
3. She has a standard poodle named Roxy
4. Ali prances around in a unicorn costume. Even though she bought it for Halloween, there's no excuse not to wear it year round.
Look closely and you'll see Ali underneath the unicorn costume
5. Somehow she finds time to do things like live stream puppies on her computer .
6. If you didn't know (I'm sure you all did), she loves Kansas City and the Jayhawks.. I've finally learned the difference between Kansas City, Missouri and the actual state of Kansas (see picture below)
7. Ali's special talent - her hair being in her collar doesn't bother her (see picture above)
8. She worked at Kate Spade and is pretty much a Kate Spade model.
9. Ali is going to be really successful one day because she is very talented in Adobe and makes cool projects of me like this:

10. When she was younger for her family Christmas card she took a photo with a dove named Bubblegum.
11. She put our friend Kendall on Craigslist for needing a sloth babysitter and it was genius.
12. Ali sometimes Clorox wipes her feet before getting in bed & if she has worn pants all day, she won't get under her covers without changing. OCD maybe?
13. She has a blog that you should absolutely check out! Click this link to take you there.
14. We threw the D together freshman year and it's like, did we really even know each other? Most likely not. I delta love you though
15. Ali is absolutely hilarious.
Happy Birthday Ali! I'm thankful for our Gilmore Girls marathons and To-Do lists that strictly consist of South Depot & getting our nails done.
Have the BEST birthday & hurry up and get to Nashville!

Ways to Procrastinate (What are finals?)

With finals half-way we're all guaranteed a happy hump day right? Our normal days have been filled with notecards, highlighters, study guide and most of all, trying to find new ways to procrastinate. Whether it's allowing myself one episode of Scandal as a reward or if it's a little Pinteresting before I go to bed, I'll do anything for a few moments away from studying.

My favorite things to do when I want to procrastinate:
watch Beyonce on this website
shop on Etsy for Christmas presents
watch the Puppy Cam
scroll through Buzzfeed
last but not least, my favorite, Pinterest

Happy Birthday, Hunter!

Ten reasons why Hunter deserves a great birthday:
1. Our paths crossed before we even knew who each other was. I attended her 13th birthday party at Rockettown in Nashville which was quite the production
2. Once I found out she was coming to Ole Miss she was my "rush crush"
3. Hunter had surgery and looked like this:
Please don't kill me
4. We spent every weekend together last fall and even made up a theme song "Together, forever, and sisters and friends"
5. She is Ann Marie and I's baby
6. We do fun things like go to Las Vegas in January to see Celine Dion
7. Hunter is a coffee addict just like me
8. Breakfast at The Perch or dinner at Peter's Sushi is always a good idea and somehow it's the only way we see each other over breaks
9. We watched Alabama in the National Championship together this year, along with a few other cool people I guess ;)
10. Remember when I went to go get pizza at The Ridge and Ann Marie & I look up and you were there too? The three of us have had way too many funny times together
Happy 20th Birthday Hunter!
I'm so thankful for you and you've been such a great friend this past year & a half.
I loved our sleepovers in Crosby 311, the trip to Vegas and most importantly, Bid Day!
Let's celebrate when we get back to Nashville! Love you little nugget!

Ole Miss Sorority Legacies Feel Welcomed and Passed Over

Ole Miss Sorority Legacies Feel Welcomed and Passed Over
By: Chandler Clarkson
Lisa Clark, a junior Tri Delta member, did not stress when it came to rush. She came into college open-minded but knew Tri Delta was where she was meant to be. Clark’s mom, two older sisters, aunt and two cousins were all Tri Delts at Ole Miss, and Clark lives with her cousin in the Tri Delta house right now.
“All seven of us, whether we are at home in Charlotte or in Oxford, have always been a close family, but the fact that we are all Tri Delts makes it even more special,” Clark says.
Clark is one of the hundreds of legacies that go through recruitment each year. Yet, being a legacy can seem like a double-edged sword.
“I thought it was harder to go through rush as a legacy at Ole Miss. Other sororities write you off as going what your mom or sister went,” says grad-student and member of Delta Delta Delta, Mary Cannon Spradley.
“A few of the houses where I didn’t know anyone asked if I had any Greek ties. As soon as I told them my sister was a Tri Delt, their attitude changed and I was not asked back the next round,” says Tri Delta member and legacy Susanna Southern.
Clark and another Tri Delta legacy, Jamie Spradley, said some houses kept them throughout the recruitment process out of courtesy. They say this gesture meant a lot to them, knowing they had the opportunity to pledge a different sorority.
Assistant Dean of Students for Student Involvement at Ole Miss, Coulter Ward, has been over Greek life for the past four years. He thinks being a legacy both helps and hinders, but it is not in the legacy’s control if it does.
“To me, legacy is kind of a weird thing… it has a lot of different aspects to it,” Coulter says.
Overall, most Tri Delta legacies say the experience has been positive.  Ellen Kerce and her cousin, Elizabeth Murphy, have been roommates since freshman year and pledged Delta Delta Delta together. Kerce’s mom, aunt and older sister were Tri Delts at Ole Miss. Kerce says it has been a dream come true to live with her cousin for three years.
“We’ve always wanted to live together.. It’s been so special and our friendship has grown ever since then,” Kerce says.
When asking the legacies about their favorite moments, smiles typically appeared across all of their faces. Stories like running down Sorority Row on Bid Day into their older sisters’ arms or their mothers pinning them at the initiation ceremony made the Tri Delta bond stronger.
“It is such an incredible bond. Even though we have been close forever, Tri Delta has made our relationship stronger,” says Southern, who shares the bond with her older sister Sarah Ellen.
Jamie Spradley just went through recruitment in October of this year and says she has loved every moment.
“Running to the Tri Delta house was something I had wanted to do since I decided I was going to Ole Miss. Seeing my sister and mom waiting for me and having my sister put my Bid Day jersey on me was so sentimental.”

Happy Birthday Morgan!

Ten reasons why Morgan deserves a great birthday:
1. I don't know if I would be at Ole Miss if it weren't for her. When I came to visit her in the fall of my senior year, who would have thought that this would be where I ended up?
2. She was Ms. CHS, talk about a high school hero
3. Morgan had a pet hedgehog named Henry
4. We were cheered together, based together, were captains together, rode together to practice, were bus buddies on our way to camp, and more. How could I ever forget the car ride with us & Rita that was eight hours and you made us play games the whole way there?
5. She's a really neat eater and has the table manners of a princess
6. Sometimes we find random barns and decide to have a little photo shoot.. We'll do anything for the Instagram #nofilter
7. She's Vice President of The University of Mississippi, pretty casual, right?
8. Franklin would be nothing with out you. Especially during winter break and the summer. Not sure whose house I would go over to & watch YouTube videos and go to Sonic with?
9. She's super talented on the piano and most nights at home I just find new songs for her to play. Her specialty is Vanessa Carlton.
10. May Crosby 251 always be home to both of us

Happy Birthday Morgan! May your day be filled with Taylor Swift singing "22" to you!
Thankful to know you and call you my friend. I can't wait to celebrate tonight!
